DATV boat mobile ---------------- For the HAM RADIO fair in Friedrichshafen AGAF (with Uwe, DJ8DW and Willi, DC5QC) had prepared a new attraction: after the Zeppelin last year it was DATV boat mobile from the Lake Constance this time. The first 1 Watt/13 cm digital ATV signal went up to "Pfaender" mountain in Austria and was retransmitted digitally with 4 Watt on 23 cm to the AGAF-DARC stand in Friedrichshafen. A big TV set there showed beautiful pictures from the Alps and the lake, and sometimes the operator Rudolf, DJ3DY, at the "Pfaender" mountain was able to switch to the live DATV signal from the round trip boat where his son Thomas, DK5DF, could barely direct the antenna in the fair wind on deck. With greater distance the second TX signal on 23 cm at the mountain inhibited live video from the Isle of Mainau (about 46 km), as long as the HAM RADIO stand was fed. Besides magazines like the new TV-AMATEUR there was an HDTV projection shown with high resolution video files from PC hard disk received on the Astra channel "Euro1080" and the internet.
