Ham Radio and Ruhr.2010
The Ruhr is The European Capital of Culture.
This central European region has become a new type of cultural capital.
The award, "The Cultural Capital of Europe" by the EU, recognizes
the cultural force that has shaped the transformation of this region
from industrial, to a new, attractive and dynamic Ruhr.
RUHR.2010 is a European cultural development project taking place in the exciting and contrasting Ruhr urban landscape.
For the first time this ambitious project will bring together 53
cities as a metropolitan region with 5.3 million inhabitants under the title of European Capital of Culture.
The European Council awarded the title in November 2006 to the city
of Essen on behalf of the entire Ruhr area.
Some 2000 proposals for various projects throughout the Metropolis
have been received and considered from artists, institutions and Ruhr.2010 enthusiasts. These all lie within the three guiding themes of mythology, metropolis and Europe, and are relevant to the disciplines and topic areas of image, theatre, music, language, creative industries and festivals.
It is through these media that the programme tells our story of change.
As these projects are spread across the whole region, it will open up the entire Ruhr as the playing field of the program.
In addition, there will be a further four visitor centers:
In Oberhausen (Platz der guten Hoffnung/ CentrO), Bochum (Victoria Quartier), Dortmund (Dortmunder U) and Duisburg (City Palais).
Amateur Radio Communications = Social Communication
To Communicate through radio contacts with foreign countries. We welcome cultural differences.
Through contacts with our radio partners, we make everybody aware of the RUHR.2010 events.
These contacts can draw attention to the technical culture of Amateur Radio which has grown up with the technical and industrial culture of the Ruhr Area.
With contacts across the airwaves, we draw attention to the technical culture of amateur radio, as many of the events remember the technical, industrial cultur in the Ruhr Area.
With this in mind we want Radio Amateurs, Local Districts in the Ruhr area (Ruhrgebiet L, Westfalen Nord N, Westfalen Süd O) and local associations of the German Amateur Radio Club DARC, to participate as follows in these events.
1.) To make the public aware of our activities.
2.) Bring nations and cultures together through Amateur Radio operation
3.) To make available an Amateur Radio Diploma for Radio Amateurs and SWLs in accordance with the conditions which can be seen on our Home Page.
Many Thanks to our friend Ian Gardner, G3CDM from U.K.
We had a lot of help during translation to the english language.
